When most people think of Misty Copeland, they immediately think of what a beautiful and talented dancer she is, but the fascination with Misty in the dance community goes far beyond her incredible talent. Here is a girl who took her first dance class at a Boys and Girls Club at the age of 13. This is not a girl who was groomed from an early age with sights set on a being a ballerina. The dedication and determination she has, is such an incredible example to young women.
“I feel like I represent every young dancer, and even non-dancer, who felt they were not accepted by the ballet world. I’d like to think that they can see themselves in me.”
“The path to your success is not as fixed and inflexible as you think.”
“You can find a pretty body anywhere…….what makes a dancer a true dancer is what they make of all of that on stage, and what they bring to the audience”
“I Will What I Want”
“There are muscles that we have in our feet that most human beings don’t even know that we have. The strength that we have is so detailed.”
“I hope that people who have seen me perform or seen an interview with me were moved and will remember a positive feeling.”
“You can do anything you want, even if you are being told negative things….stay strong and find motivation”
